Class Description

Our structured classes are built on positive reinforcement techniques, creating a safe, fun, and rewarding environment for both dogs and handlers. Through a progressive programme, you and your dog will explore the foundational skills every gundog needs to thrive—at home or in the field. Who Is It For? Our classes are ideal for: First-time gundog owners Pet gundog handlers wanting to enrich their dog’s training Anyone interested in the heritage and working capability of their gundog breed What You’ll Learn Each week focuses on core obedience and gundog-specific skills to promote steadiness, responsiveness, and control. Topics covered include: Heelwork: Teaching your dog to walk calmly and attentively by your side Sit & Stay: Reliable stationary positioning on command Recall: Building strong, distraction-proof return habits Retrieving: Introduction to seen, thrown, and held dummy retrieves Steadiness & Leave: Encouraging impulse control when faced with distractions Hold & Release Commands: Teaching your dog to carry and release dummies on command Settle: Helping your dog relax and stay calm in group settings Every skill is introduced and practised in realistic, dog-friendly scenarios using commands like Out, Back, Hold, and Dead—mirroring real-world gundog tasks. Once you have mastered the Basic skills you will be assessed by our instructors to continue into our Intermediate level classes.
