Class Description

This level is designed for those who have already built a solid foundation in basic gundog obedience and are now ready to take their training to the next stage. Using the same positive reinforcement philosophy as our beginners’ course, this programme deepens control, precision, and the dog-handler connection—while keeping training engaging and enjoyable. Who Is It For? Perfect for: Graduates of our Gundog Basics course Handlers aiming to move towards fieldwork or trialling Pet gundog owners looking to enrich off-lead reliability This course is ideal for any gundog breed ready for more advanced tasks in a structured, supportive setting. What You’ll Learn The Intermediate programme centres on building greater steadiness, control, and focus, particularly off-lead. Sessions include challenging, practical exercises to test your dog's obedience, confidence, and teamwork. Key skills developed include: Steadiness Under Distraction: Reinforcing calm behaviour around dummies, other dogs, and distractions Memory Retrieves: Teaching dogs to mark and retrieve from unseen locations Directional Commands: Guiding your dog left, right, or back with clear, remote handling cues Stop Command (Whistle Control): Developing your dog’s ability to stop instantly at a distance Working to Gunshot: Introducing dogs to simulated gunfire in a controlled and positive Environment Once you have mastered the Intermediate skills you will be assessed by our instructors to continue into our Advanced level classes.
