Key areas of focus include: Hunting Patterns: Controlled quartering and cover work Multiple Retrieves: Memory and seen retrieves under distraction Stop to Whistle at Distance: Quick and consistent stops for direction changes Blind Retrieves: Building confidence in unmarked send-aways Remote Directional Handling: Use of hand signals and whistles to guide the dog with precision Marked Retrieves to Shot: Steadiness and delivery after simulated gunshot Walking to Heel Off-lead: Especially through challenging terrain Steadiness to Distraction: Remaining composed amid thrown dummies, other dogs, or noise We simulate shoot-day scenarios including drive lines, walk-ups, and working around other dogs to mimic assessment conditions and practical working environments. We also provide mock assessments and feedback on areas of improvement, helping handlers understand exactly what is expected during certification tests.
